Martell’s Cognac houses have been in operation for over 300 years. In 1715 the first Cognac house was built in France. Now in 2016 they release, Martell Blue Swift, the first-ever Martell VSOP matured in French Oak casks and finished in Kentucky Bourbon casks. This unique Eau de Vie de Vin celebrates the House’s historical ties to the U.S. The use of the Kentucky Bourbon casks adds a vanilla and toasted oak touch to the flavor.
The brand director for Martell stated, “Martell Blue Swift is a product born out of the power of curiosity, and we look to celebrate those who embody and share our curious spirit with the release of our latest innovation.” Martell Blue Swift will be exclusively available in select U.S. markets including Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Houston and Washington D.C. this October with a suggested retail price of $49.99.
I have to thank Martell for sending over a bottle of “Blue Swift.” Take a look at the people from Martell explaining what is “Cognac” and how it is made below.
